2022 – Key retail dates you don’t want to miss
After so much disruption, it’s more important than ever that retailers take advantage of every occasion to boost their revenue. There are key dates throughout the year which present opportunities to cash in on the hype and marketing surrounding them. However, forward planning is vital which is why we’ve summed up the most popular retail events for you, so you can ensure you are fully prepared and don’t miss out on some of the biggest advertising and marketing opportunities of 2022.
January
1st New Year’s Day
17th – Blue Monday – Billed as the saddest day of the year, why not offer some cheer with a special offer?
25th – Burn’s Day – Try a Scottish theme on your website or social media.
February
1st Chinese New Year – 2022 is the year of the tiger!
14th Valentine’s Day – This requires some planning as gifts are often bought in advance so you should advertise your Valentine’s deals from mid-January.
March
1st St David’s Day
17th St. Patrick’s Day – Try an Irish themed special offer or discount.
20th First Day of Spring – After a long, cold winter it’s a great opportunity to spread some springtime cheer.

16th End of school summer holidays (Scotland) – As summer comes to an end, ensure you’re fully stocked with those back-to-school essentials.
29th Summer Bank Holiday

1st End of school summer holidays (England, Wales and Northern Ireland)

31st Halloween – Not just for kids! Add a bit of spookiness to your store or website with a Halloween themed deal.
November
5th Guy Fawkes Night – As winter draws in it’s time to promote those seasonal items.
11th Remembrance Day – The perfect opportunity to give back to servicemen and women with a special discount.
13th Remembrance Sunday
25th Black Friday – Believed to be the busiest shopping day of the year. Make sure your offers are strong and you have plenty of stock!
28th Cyber Monday – An extension to Black Friday, this is a big one for the tech retailers.
December
18th World Cup Final – Unusually falling in November and December this year due to the location, the proximity to the holidays could see football related products at the top of Christmas lists!
24th Christmas Eve – Super Saturday falls on Christmas Eve this year.
25th Christmas Day
26th Boxing Day – Time for the Boxing Day sales!
31st New Year’s Eve
